CSO comments on final draft of RT concept note
During the joint CFS Bureau/Advisory Group Meeting, September 1, 2011, it was decided that due to much contention on the final decision box in the background document, civil society would be able to include official alternative texts that they would presented and discussed during the round table. The two bullet points which the CSO Task Team members have proposed to include in the final background document, for consideration of the CFS Secretariat are:
- The Committee should invite governments to report on all relevant action taken at national level with regard to public and private investment in agriculture, starting with the implementation of the four above bullet points. These reports should be prepared with national stakeholders, following the pattern of the CFS, with particular emphasis on organizations representing those sectors of the population most affected by food insecurity. The secretariat should prepare a summary of these reports for presentation to the annual CFS sessions, and best practices emerging from them could be highlighted in CFS plenaries.
- In its discussions and decisions, the Committee is asked to consider the Report from the HLPE “Land tenure and international investments in agriculture”, and in particular the summary for policymakers and list of recommendations of the HLPE reproduced in this document
